What is a common effect of benzodiazepine overdose?

Extreme sleepiness is a common effect of benzodiazepine overdose due to the central nervous system depressant properties of these medications. Benzodiazepines are designed to enhance the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which inhibits brain activity, leading to sedation and relaxation.
